Etnography I - Ethnographic Maps: Africa (1st semester)
Programme
Nesta disciplina é oferecida uma panorâmica das grandes áreas regionais, civilizacionais, linguísticas e religiosas em África, e avaliada, na sua profundidade histórica, a intersecção de modelos ideológicos africanos com o Islão e o cristianismo.
É assim proposta uma análise comparativa das transformações operadas na lógica sacrificial que subentende as representações do poder em diversos contextos regionais, por força das mutações operadas pela expansão das religiões muçulmana e cristã, e da instalação de administrações coloniais europeias e magrebinas.
Serão, nesta medida, confrontados modelos de análise diacrónicos e sincrónicos a propósito das fontes orais que referenciam a construção de estruturas simbólicas do poder – e suas expressões literárias, artísticas e rituais -, nos grandes reinos da África ocidental, no mundo banto e no Corno de África.
Será ainda avaliada a relevância e permanência dos cultos populares de tipo extático e messiânico, durante o período colonial e na actualidade, assim como referida a eventual articulação da lógica sacrificial com a fenomenologia da violência intra- e intercomunitária.
