O3F Processing Tools

In addition to the ontology representation model and the compact ontology representation language, O3F is associated with some computational tools for O3F Ontology processing.

O3F Tools comprise an ontology server (O3_server), an ontology editor (CO3L_edit), and a converter that translates UML class and objects diagrams into O3F ontologies (UML2O3F).

Soon, these tools will be reorganized and included in a single integrated development environment called Go_o3f. Although integrated in Go_o3f, the individual tools will continue to exist, some of them with two versions – a stand alone version to be used by people through a graphical user interface, and a programming version that can be used in other programs through the definition of an API.

Several other tools will be developed mostly by MSc students, namely a converter for translating OWL ontologies into O3F ontologies, a converter for translating O3F into OWL, a converter for translating O3F ontologies into UML diagrams, and an ontology query system among others. Most of these will also be integrated in Go_o3f.

O3 Tools design is guided by the O3 Tools Architecture.
